I've been following
Branding 10,000 Lakes for quite a while now.
Nicole Meyer took on the task of branding lakes of America one lake a day for 10,000 days. Its very interesting to see the kinds of identities she designs for each lake. My favourite exercise is to see just the name of the lake, instantly think of the best idea I can to imagine how that name could get an identity that's different and memorable, and then see what she's done. When her solution is surprising and refreshingly new to me, it just becomes another day when I learnt something.
This one below is an example. The cow-skin patch is quite a smart idea compared the usual stuff one might imagine when presented with the word 'cow'.
